Regina’s newest acting studio was created by actor and coach Style Dayne alongside actor Laura Abramsen, called Bar S Studios, after finding a need for acting opportunities in Saskatchewan.

“I created Bar S Studios because I saw a gap in Saskatchewan,” said Dayne

“There is incredible talent here but not enough opportunities for actors to train at a high level without leaving the province,”

Dayne and Abramsen are also actors, actors who have trained to be where they are at today. Through countless auditions and call backs Dayne and Abramsen have secured themselves a seat in the film and tv industry. But not without their fair share of challenges.

Dayne and Abramsen career started off in small-town Saskatchewan where opportunities for actors are not as common like in the big cities. That is what gave Style the idea to create a studio for actors in Saskatchewan.

“Launching and now growing Bar S felt like the right idea because it’s about building that bridge: keeping talent rooted here, while connecting them to the larger industry.

With Dayne and Abramsen experiencing the troubles of finding opportunities in Saskatchewan firsthand, Bar S Studios is a way that Dayne and Abramsen are giving that opportunity back to the acting community.

“You can’t be an actor without acting, so take action!” said Abramsen

When asked what is next for the studio Abramsen then went into detail explaining that Bar S Studios offer many different classes such as audition classes, scene study classes and community events. The scene study includes script reads and performances while under the guidance of experienced actors. The audition class dives deep into how to audition when the pressure is high.

“Bar S is always expanding. We have multiple classes coming up, and each are tailored to the actors’ specific needs” says Abramsen. “Whatever you are looking for, Bar S has it”

Dayne explains that Bar S Studio is a place to build confidence in yourself and to grow your skills while giving you a comfortable and safe environment to do so.

Northstar Stonechild is a client of Style Dayne and has been training with him since January. Stonechild is also a Stunt Man who has travelled across the world to stunt in film and television.

“I saw a six-week acting course under Bar S Studios on Facebook last year and applied because I’ve always been interested in acting but had no clue where to start,” said Stonechild talking about where he heard about Bar S Studios and why he started acting.
