Lower ticket prices filling seats for Regina Pats WHL games

The Regina Pats lowered ticket prices this season and have quickly moved into the top half of the WHL’s average home attendance charts.

“I think the ticket prices will bring a lot more people watching the Pats,” said Jake Raczynski, who has been supporting the team for close to a decade.

Their average of 3,592 fans is a slight increase from the 2025-26 season, but a massive improvement from 2024-25 when the Pats averaged 2,979 fans for home games inside the 6,000-seat Brandt Centre, the third worst attendance in the Western Hockey League.

A change needed to be made, according to Pats CEO Gord Pritchard.

“We did a ton of research on ticket prices in Western Canada, other WHL teams, live events in Western Canada … and we came up with a ticketing model that we thought worked well for for the Regina Pats and Regina,” said Pritchard

Lowered prices were announced before the 2026-27 season, when the team revealed a new ticket structure.

Single-game tickets have seen price reductions of 15% throughout all seating categories, and new weekday tickets start at $12.25, representing a 50% reduction from last year’s pricing, according to the Pats statement.

The Pats averaged 3,531 fans last season. All attendance figures are from HockeyDB.com.

Beyond the price cuts, the Pats are using theme nights to attract more fans.

The team has designated 27 of its 34 home games for additional promotions, aimed at bringing in new audiences.

The Pats hosted the Seattle Thunderbirds for their Wiener Wednesday promotional night Oct. 21, 2026.

“We want the youth, we want the families, the young professionals, university students, and we want them to come out and experience … what it’s all about,” Pritchard said.

The fan-favourite promotion is the “I Love Regina” night, which was hosted by the City of Regina on Nov. 1. All tickets were priced at $13 plus taxes and fees, with an attendance of 5,360 for the game.

While the game ended in a 6-3 loss to the Lethbridge Hurricanes that broke the Pats undefeated home win streak, the game was a season high attendance record.

The Pats have a record of seven wins, five losses and one shootout loss. Six of those wins were secured at the Brandt Centre.

For Pritchard, the point of getting more people in the building is the atmosphere they create.

“The more people we can get in the building to watch the Pats and cheer on the Pats, creates a more exciting environment for the fans and the players on the ice,” said Pritchard.

The on-ice product for the Pats has been a big boost to this environment.

Regina product Maddox Schultz, and Langley, B.C. native Liam Pue have both been integral pieces to the team, bringing national media attention and attendance to the team through their play.

Schultz, who has 14 points through 10 games, and Pue, who leads the team with 18 points on the year were both invited to the 2026 U17 World Challenge for Team Canada Red and White.

They are expected to rejoin the Pats by mid-November.
