Regina resident Daniel Johnson started seeing Big Burger Days posters on the walls of restaurants around the city over the weekend. As an active member of the community with a love for food, he was excited by what he saw. “This has got me going out and around the city to try new places,” Johnson said.
Big Brothers Big Sisters of Regina (BBBS) is collaborating with restaurants across the city on a creative fundraising campaign called Big Burger Days. The non-profit organization aims to empower young people who are facing adversity, by matching them with mentors who can provide them with support to help fulfill their potential.
“Really, it’s about building a friendship,” said Director of Development and Communications for BBBS of Regina, Amy Mohr. “The mentee would have another trusted adult and confidant”.
She added that each mentor-mentee partnership engages in activities that are tailored to their particular interests, such as sports, cooking, and more. “The mentor is a positive person and someone that is hanging out with the mentee because they are worthy of support and lots of love,” said Mohr.
For this fundraising initiative, 19 restaurants in the Regina area have partnered with BBBS and selected a featured burger. Proceeds from these burger sales will go directly to BBBS of Regina following the 10-day campaign, which spans from September 10-20, 2026.
“So far, we’re not quite halfway through, and it has been really well received,” said Mohr. She noted that the restaurants involved have already seen traction.
Local content creators were also eager to partner with BBBS of Regina on the campaign. “There were so many of them who kind of jumped at the opportunity, so it seems like a really good initiative that brings everybody together,” said Mohr.

“It is fun to see what burgers different places have come up with,” said Johnson. He has tried four burgers so far, and plans to try as many as possible before the fundraiser ends. “It has been a cool opportunity to eat local food while contributing to a good cause,” said Johnson.
Mohr and the staff at BBBS of Regina have also enjoyed seeing creativity on display. “We’re really eager to try the burgers that have been created, because some of them are not typically on the menu at these restaurants and they’ve kind of been special features for this campaign,” she said.
Restaurants involved are also enjoying this aspect of the campaign. “It’s always fun to offer something not normally on the menu. Features are always fun and this one is for a good cause,” said Darcee Gagawchuk, General Manager at the Regina South location of The Keg Steakhouse + Bar.
She noted that The Keg has a longtime partnership with BBBS, dating back over a decade. “We believe in youth, and because we employ the youth. We want young people to achieve their goals and dreams,” she said.
“Everything we do is for our life-changing mentoring,” said Mohr, adding that any funds raised during Big Burger Days will be dedicated to “making new mentoring relationships and supporting the ones that are already existing.”
